In my opinion, prayer is communication to the Creater of all things  who is "God". It is a way to express a petition, to issue a earnest request and to address God with adoration, confession, supplication and thankgiving.  It connects you in community with the one who loves you no matter what! It keeps you relating to Him as your leader for direction in your life and His help for specific needs of others.

 

Praying to God changes your heart towards various situations.

 

Consider praying to to Lord as often as possible and observe how much better you feel knowing that the Lord knows best and will let the best outcome happen. Even if it does not turn out the way you expected His way will prove to be the best solution overall.
